Seven Arrows in the Air
a Weekend Teaching with Stephen Jenkinson
April 19-21, 2019: Ubud, Bali
(Venue TBD; based on # of people attending)
Some of the religions - the ones with good memories - teach us that the world was spoken into being by its Makers.
The storytellers have always been the great rememberers, carrying the world in troubled times like this one, murmuring sanity.
Much hangs in the rafters and in the balance when humans take to speech to make their vows, their oaths, their threats, their prayers.
It is a conjuring business we are entrusted with. And yet our corner of the world leaves its citizens to their wits to cobble together something like eloquence.
These few days together will be a time for learning something of the skill and the gift of well spokenness, the spell binding and spell breaking power of speech, the chanting in enchantment, the obligations of lucidity of the spirit and of the tongue that gather there in the second half of life.
About Stephen Jenkinson

Inquiries and Questions
This will be the 3rd visit for Stephen to the island of Bali. We previously hosted:
Die Wise (2015)
At The Foot of the World Tree Withered: An Elderhood Training (2017)
There’s a relevance in hosting these profound teachings in a place like Bali, a place where a lived culture clings desperately against the gale force winds of globalization and its dutiful agents of change.
Stephen speaks-in a world that we don’t often see. A world that is being held aloft by those brave enough to not know a different way. A world that carries stories, seeks elders, knows where its dead go.
Bali isn’t perfect. It isn’t paradisal utopia. It is, however, a place where you can still see and hear that world— in the architecture, the ceremony, the relations, the stories.
It’s an important place and adds an unforgettable voice to the articulate wisdom Stephen carries.
